Are your personal care products working as hard for you as they should? You might be thinking 'yeah, sure, my (insert product name here) does just fine'. But what if it could do more?
Saving time and money can start right in your bathroom! Many products that you use on a regular basis can serve more than one purpose. We've designed all of our products at Live Naked Skin Care to be multi-use so you don't need single specialty products to clutter up your bathroom. If you check the description page for each product you'll see plenty of ideas on how you can use your favourite Live Naked items.
But there are other ways to save time and money in the bathroom. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking.
Be happy, be fee, Live Naked.
Have you ever examined the ingredient list of your favourite personal care product? I've have and I've been pretty disappointed with what I've read. I've even stood in the store aisle trying to decipher the tiny print only to bring it home to find that I missed that crucial ingredient that would have caused me to put it back on the shelf.
Many of the ingredients in these products aren't necessarily needed either. Without them the product would be just as effective, but we've become so accustomed to the lathering, foaming, scented nature of said products that we think something is wrong with a product that doesn't offer that experience. Have you ever used a shampoo that didn't create lots of sudsy lather? It can take some getting used to because we've been conditioned to think that the lather is what cleans our hair. Lather actually has very little to do with cleaning our hair but the sodium laureth sulfate (or it's cousin sodium lauryl sulfate) that creates the suds has been linked to cancer. Why would you want to put that right on your head?!
When you think about all the products that you use in the bathroom each morning, even if you're a minimalist, it can get pretty long.
Shampoo, conditioner, hair products (gel, mousses, sprays, etc.) body wash, face wash, moisturizers for body, moisturizers for face, toners, deodorants, perfumes or colognes, toothpaste, and makeup (that's another long list right there!). We paint and slather our bodies with these items day after day and if you're not avoiding products that have nasty chemicals in them, all of these products can have ingredients that have been linked to cancer, or can disrupt your hormones, can trigger allergies or asthma or worse! As if it could get any worse!
So what should you avoid? Just like the dirty dozen for fruits and vegetables, there's the dirty dozen of the beauty world! There's lots already written on how harmful these ingredients are so I won't repeat them here, but I will list them so you know what ingredients you should be looking for (to avoid at all costs).
That's quite a list!
To complicate things even more, don't assume that the so called 'natural' or 'green' products you find at your favourite health store or in the organics aisle is automatically safe. You need to read the ingredient list to be sure, no matter what the label says.
Fortunately there are many companies out there that make products safe and effective for you to use. That's what we do at Live Naked Skin Care! It's important to us (it's one of the biggest reasons we started this company!) and we believe deeply that your personal care products should be good for your body, inside and out!
Once you start venturing outside of the mainstream realm of personal care products, you'll find companies being run by people who care! People doing good things in the world and that's refreshing!
So, be aware! Know what you're buying, seek out alternatives and treat the largest organ of your body (the skin) with the love that it deserves!
Be happy, be free, Live Naked!
Did you notice that we say feel better naked instead of look better naked? There's a reason for that small yet significant word change. Sure we all want to look the best we can when we're naked but let's be honest, even the most beautiful people in the world think they have flaws.
What's more important is that we feel better naked because that represents a frame of mind that loves and celebrates the body that we've been blessed with.
At Live Naked we feel that each body is unique and we should celebrate it in all of it's shapes! You have some scars? There's probably a story behind each one. You have cellulite? So do I, and so does your best friend and your mother and your sister and her friend too! You've got stretch marks? They may represent a particular, magical period in your life, or a struggle that you've overcome, they're part of your history. You have muscles? That's the physical manifestation of hard work. Once you start looking at your body from this perspective, you can see that each small detail that makes it unique is worthy of your love.
That's why we spend time telling people to celebrate their birthday suits! Once you feel confident and content with your body, it's easier to shed the worry of what other people think and naturally, you start to look better naked too, as a result!
We hope that using our products will contribute to that in some small way, knowing that you're putting ingredients on your skin that are part of that routine of self-love and self-care.
